ABOUT ISEET

What is ISEET
Indian ScienceEngineering Eligibility Test?

ISEET was the name given to the proposed common entrance test for admissions into central

engineering institutions i.e. IITs, NITs, IIITs and IISERs. But now the name has been reset to JEE

(Joint Entrance Examination).

What is JEE (previously ISEET)?

JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) is the proposed Single National level entrance test to be

conducted from the year 2013 for all students who seek admissions into central engineering

institutions i.e. IITs, NITs, IIITs and IISERs.

When will JEE be introduced?

The first JEE will be held in the year 2013. It will be conducted for the admissions in academic

session 2013-14.

Which institutes are going to accept JEE score?

15 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and IT-BHU, Varanasi & ISMU, Dhanbad

30 National Institutes of Technology (NITs)

5 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs)

6 Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISERs).

1 Indian Institute of Science (IISc) – (only BS Course / Programme).

Several other Govt. / centrally-funded institutions.

Some private Colleges / universities at National level.

Hundreds of State Govt. funded / controlled colleges in various states.

Thousands of private Colleges in various states.

What will be the ‘New admission Process’ from 2013 for IITs / NITs / IIITs and other

engineering institutions?

Board Percentage of Class XII will be given a minimum of 40% weightage while

preparing final merit list.

JEE will replace IIT-JEE / AIEEE and other examinations and will come into place from

academic session 2013-14 and a score card will be given to the student appearing in the

exam.

JEE MAIN and ADVANCE will be compulsory with a maximum of 60% weightage.

What is the pattern of the new JEE?

JEE will be a single day exam in two sessions

Morning Session – 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM (3 Hours)

Afternoon Session – 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM (3 Hours)

JEE will have two papers

JEE MAIN – Objective type test to be held in the morning session to access the abilities of

comprehension, critical thinking, logical reasoning of students. As per latest news reports

it will quiz students on their knowledge of Physics. Chemistry and Mathematics and is

expected to be on the lines of present AIEEE.

JEE ADVANCE – This will assess the depth of learning of a candidate. It is expected to be

tougher than Main paper and be on the lines of present JEE paper.

JEE 2013 will be conducted twice in 2013, and the ultimate aim is to conduct it thrice or

four times in a year.

When will JEE be conducted?

The first JEE will be conducted in April / May 2013.

Who will conduct JEE?

IIT’s will set the papers for JEE while CBSE in collaboration with State Boards will physically

conduct and manage the examinations across India.

How many times in a year will JEE be conducted?

Initially, JEE will be conducted twice in a year.

Later on, the JEE may be conducted 3-4 times in a year.

How long will the JEE ?score be valid?

For Two Years

What will be the language of test papers in JEE?

The JEE for Central Institutions shall be conducted in English & Hindi Languages.

Where States intend to use the same examination for admission to State engineering

institutions, the examination could be conducted in the regional language of the State too.

How will the 40% weightage of Class
XII Board Examination along with JEE be

factored into the admission in Engineering/Science institutions?

A committee headed by Dr T Ramaswami, Secretary in the Department of Science &

Technology, has demonstrated with the help of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata that

Board% scores across various Boards can be normalized through a statistical process & converted

into percentile. The normalized percentile may be used to give 40% or above weightage in the

admission process as per institute / state Govt. policy.

Will JEE score be applicable for admission in Private Engineering Colleges or Private

/ Deemed Universities?

The private Institutions may or may not use the JEE Score.

Leading private Universities / institutions at National level like BITS (BITSAT), VIT

(VITEEE), Manipal, SRM, Amity etc. may continue with their ‘own’ entrance

examinations.

However, state-level / smaller private colleges / universities may use JEE score because of

its wider acceptance.

What will be the role of coaching institutes in preparation for JEE?

The expected number of candidates appearing for JEE 2013 is around 12 lakh – 15 lakh.

To compete for few thousand seats at premier institutions in such a fierce competition

requires student to perform well not only in Board examination (min. 40% weightage)

but also in JEE (max. 60% weightage).

.JEE will have both class XI & XII syllabi and the problems will be more advanced than

the Board curriculum.

This definitely requires a support system which can mentor him to prepare efficiently and

smartly to score better in Board examination as well as in JEE.

    1. my suggestion for you that in ISEET/IIT-JEE 2013 there will no english reasoning question except for BITS exam...and the moto of this change is to make focus on class 12th papers...so just prepare your NCERT textbook with greater understanding of each and every concept...n there is no requirment for the prepration of english reasoning or any kind of aptitude

  2. another thing you must have to be in top 70 percentile for cbse board or in top 60 percentile in any state board...if u are unable to achive the same then automatically you will be disqualify for IIT JEE 2013 SCREENING...so prepare for you BOARD EXAM and if intrested then u may also take coaching for the betterment of you practice...but there is no requirement for the coaching of english reasoning or aptitude...i hope this comment will help you
